ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
The University of New Mexico Board of Regents has officially launched a national search for the university’s next president, aiming to name a successor by spring 2026.
Current President Garnett Stokes is set to conclude her tenure on July 1, 2026.
The Regents plan to appoint an advisory search committee to help identify top candidates and have hired executive search firm Isaacson Miller — known for leading UNM’s last presidential search.
“This is a pivotal time for UNM,” Board Chair Paul Blanchard said. “We’re seeking a visionary leader who can build on the university’s momentum and expand its impact across New Mexico and beyond.”
The university community is encouraged to provide feedback on leadership priorities through the official search website .
