Area doctors report a spike in Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease cases.

It’s a highly contagious malady most often found in children.

It spreads through the air and on surfaces.

Symptoms include sore throat, fever, sores around the mouth, and a rash on the hands and feet.

The CDC recommends frequent handwashing and cleaning of surfaces.

It’s safe to send children back to school once the fever has broken and the mouth sores are gone.
