Michigan State Police troopers this month rescued an injured red-tail hawk found in a Grayling parking lot.

Troopers from the Houghton lake post were dispatched to the parking lot on Oct. 15 in response to the report.

"Upon arrival, troopers utilized a blanket and a dog cage to rescue the hawk," the MSP Seventh District said in a post on X on Oct. 21.

Troopers contacted the Department of Natural Resources and transported the animal to the Association to Rescue Kritters, based in St. Helen, where the hawk will be cared for until it can be released back into wild.

The organization, founded in 2001, says its goal it to help animals found in "unfortunate situations."
