Former Florida football standouts Chris Doering and Shane Matthews shared their thoughts on the next Florida Gators football coaching hire.

Matthews, a two-time SEC player of the year (1990-91) and first of a line of star quarterbacks at UF under Steve Spurrier, said Florida needs to target an offensive coach.

"We need an offensive-minded guy," said Matthews, who lives in Gainesville serves as a color analyst for UF's radio broadcasts. "A guy who has won on a consistent basis, puts a good product on the field, fun and exciting."

Doering, who played at UF from 1992-95 and still holds the school record for TD catches (31), also wants UF to target a proven coach.
