A person was attacked by a coyote in the yard of their Saddle River home Tuesday following a similar incident in neighboring Woodcliff Lake on Monday in New Jersey, authorities said.
During Tuesday’s attack, the resident was working in their yard when they were knocked to the ground and bitten multiple times by the animal, according to a statement from the Saddle River Police Department.
Officers were called to the area and encountered the coyote, which was “visibly sick” and had “no fear of humans,” the department said.
The animal was euthanized by the officers and taken by Tyco Professional Animal Control for testing, police said.
The resident who was attacked was taken to The Valley Hospital in Paramus for treatment, investigators said.
