Netflix's new hit series Boots has become doubly successful in its second week on streaming. Based on Greg Cope White's memoir The Pink Marine , Boots follows a young gay man who joins the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1990s, recounting his experience hiding his sexuality in this environment. Created by Andy Parker, Boots stars Miles Heizer in the lead role.

Boots was an instant success on Netflix following its premiere on October 9, and season 1 currently holds a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the series has drawn some notable criticism from the U.S. Government itself. Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson released a statement about Boots a week after it dropped on Netflix, denouncing it on behalf of the government.
