An Edwardsburg man has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to meth possession. Eric Heiman, 36, must pay more than $2,200 in fines and complete 30 hours of community service each week if unemployed. If he completes probation successfully, his charge will be reduced to meth use. The case stems from a July incident in Porter Township, where police found meth residue in Heiman’s truck after reports of erratic driving. Leader Publications reports the judge noted Heiman’s 20-year history of substance abuse and assaultive behavior, including two six-month jail terms in Cass and Elkhart counties since 2023.
