NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - As part of School Safety Week, two lawmakers are addressing the importance of campus safety measures on Wednesday morning.
Senator Jack Johnson (R-Williamson County) and Representative Ron Gant (R-Fayette County) will speak on behalf of Make Our Schools Safe TN (MOSS TN) at the Tennessee State Capitol on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
Johnson and Gant are advocating for Alyssa’s Law, which calls for the installation of silent panic alarms directly linked to law enforcement, ensuring that officers get to the scene as quickly as possible to neutralize any threat and care for any victims.
The legislation is named after 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, who was killed during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.
