AKRON, Ohio — Akron residents and small businesses who are participants in the city’s natural gas aggregation program will see an increase in cost as a new fixed rate takes effect next month.

The new fixed rate will rise to $4.55/Mcf, which the city says “is slightly higher than the current program rate of $3.81/Mcf,” with the natural gas supplier being IGS Energy.

The new rate, which is in effect from November 2025 through October 2026, will first be reflected in the December 2025 billing.

“Residents and small businesses wishing to get their natural gas elsewhere are able to shop the open market and sign with a different supplier if they choose,” according to a press release from Akron Mayor Shammas Malik’s office. “They can join the city’s aggregation program later at no additio
