CLEVELAND — Attorneys for the family of Tasha Grant, the Cuyahoga County Jail inmate who died in May while at MetroHealth , held a news conference Wednesday after video was released earlier this week showing the final moments before her death.
While in custody, Grant was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. There, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner says she died from physical restraint on May 5.
"Tasha was a 39-year-old double amputee who was taken to MetroHealth to receive medical care. But instead, we got a tragedy," said attorney Robert Gresham. "Instead of compassion and care, she received restraint and force. Instead of being treated as a patient who needed help, she was treated as a threat -- and that's simply unacceptable."
