In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, more than 440 kg of ganja valued over Rs 2.25 crore was intercepted in Jharkhand's Simdega district, police confirmed on Wednesday.

The seizure followed a tip-off about ganja being transported via truck from Rourkela in Odisha along the Simdega route. The vehicle was halted at Sahu petrol pump in Chhagribandha, under the limits of the Kolebira police station, where law enforcement discovered 441 kg of ganja hidden in a specially designed compartment, informed SP Mohammad Arshi.

The truck driver was apprehended and placed in judicial custody. Authorities claim that the action has severely disrupted the smuggling network, with the Narcotics Control Bureau and local police actively identifying other implicated members, stated NCB Zonal Directo
