Shillong, Oct 23 : Cabinet Minister Marcuise N Marak has announced that the construction of a permanent Cenotaph in Tura, West Garo Hills district, is set to begin soon.

The Cenotaph, which was demolished earlier, is being rebuilt to honor the Garo Labour Corps for their contributions during World War I.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Marak informed that the design for the permanent structure has been finalized and approved by the committee, with the next step being the laying of the foundation stone.

“We are about to start the construction for permanent structures and the designs are ready. Only because of some procedural lapses, it is taking some time but very soon we are going to sit for the next meeting and we will lay the foundation stone for the permanent structure,” he sai
