Steven Gerrard handed Kyle Lafferty a second chance at Rangers. But the striker admits he was a nervous wreck playing under the Liverpool legend. ‌

Lafferty - who spent four years at Ibrox in his first stint - rejoined the club in 2018 after a stunning spell with Hearts . ‌

But the Northern Ireland international struggled to recapture the form that first made him a key player during Walter Smith's tenure. ‌

Journeyman Lafferty ripped up his contract after just a year at Rangers before heading to Norway with Sarpsborg 08.

And the 38-year-old - now winding down his playing days with Johnstone Burgh - confessed he felt out of place in Gerrard's team.

He told Open Goal: "I didn't enjoy my second spell. Probably down to me. I was miles off anyone in training. ‌
