Police are searching for a man and two women in connection with a distraction theft in the north Galt area of Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police said om Tuesday, at approximately 2:35 p.m., an older woman and her husband were walking in the area of Green Vista Drive and Crawford Crescent, near St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School, when they were approached by a motorist in a grey or silver, four-door car.

The driver, a man, asked the husband for directions. While he was distracted, the women passengers approached the woman and offered to bless her as part of Diwali celebrations.

The women grabbed her hands and tried to put a necklace on her, but when she resisted, one of them forcibly removed her own necklace, causing minor injuries before fleeing in the vehicle.
