A New York man who was convicted and then pardoned for his role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, has been charged with making death threats to the top House Democrat.
The New York Times reported this week that Christopher Moynihan, of Clinton, allegedly targeted Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, the House minority leader. He has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony.
“Hakeem Jeffries makes a speech in a few days in NYC I cannot allow this terrorist to live,” Moynihan texted to an associate last week, according to the criminal complaint. “Even if I am hated he must be eliminated. I will kill him for the future.”
Moynihan was previously found guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding, as well as five related misdemeanor charges in connection to the Jan. 6 Capitol r
