“ Materialists ” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting Nov. 7 after earning an impressive $104 million at the worldwide box office over the summer.

Celine Song’s sophomore feature follows Dakota Johnson as a New York City matchmaker named Lucy, who finds herself at a romantic crossroads. On one hand, there’s the affluent bachelor Harry (Pedro Pascal), who offers material security. On the other, there’s her ex-boyfriend John (Chris Evans), who remains as financially unstable as he was when they first dated. Lucy must figure out what kind of romantic partner she wants as she also navigates existential questions around her line of work.
