Lamar Jackson pulled his hamstring a few weeks ago at the worst possible time. The superstar quarterback has missed the Baltimore Ravens' last two games as the team tries to dig itself out of a very deep 1-5 hole. A fortuitously timed bye week was supposed to be a godsend for Jackson and the Ravens to stabilize themselves as the Chicago Bears come to town in Week 8.

As it stands right now, it doesn't sound like a bye week was enough for Jackson to return to full health.

Jackson did not practice on Monday or Tuesday in any fashion in each of the Ravens' first two practices after the bye week. Per ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is holding out hope that Jackson can be more available later in the week. But he still didn't sound too confident about Jackson's status.

More from ESPN:

"I think all the guys are working really hard to get back, I can tell you that," Harbaugh said after Monday's practice. "We'll see who's back and who practices on Wednesday. I don't want to comment on any individual guys."

Asked whether he anticipated Jackson playing Sunday, Harbaugh replied, "Same answer."

ESPN's Dan Graziano echoed a similar sentiment, based on what he's heard from behind the scenes:

I don't believe it's a sure thing that Lamar Jackson returns from his hamstring injury to play against the Bears on Sunday. Jackson has missed the past two games, and the Ravens have been hoping he could return after their Week 7 bye. But they held a post-bye-week practice Monday, and Jackson did not take part in it. I've had a couple of conversations with people familiar with this situation that led me to believe Jackson might miss another game while recovering from the injury and return in Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Woof. None of this is what you want to hear if you're a part of the Ravens organization, a fan, or a fantasy manager of Jackson. A 1-6 start would likely portend certain doom in a lost season for Baltimore. And the record is much more on the table if Jackson once again can't play.
