East Kilbride’s MP is calling on the Scottish Government to make more money available for affordable housing in South Lanarkshire.
Joani Reid, Scottish Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven, is urging Holyrood to do more provide extra cash for new social housing developments.
In 2023-24, South Lanarkshire Council was awarded £30m for affordable housing supply but that figure dropped to £24.5m in 2024-25. That number is expected to rise to £33.49m in 2025-26.
Ms Reid said: “The SNP have waged a twenty-year war against local government, squeezing services, slashing spending and ignoring the need to invest for the long term.
