The cutoff for high school football postseason play will be this Saturday and this season there is a new format.
Public-school teams are still broken down by North and South with the top 16 making it in each group.
But once those 16 are selected they are divided even further geographically. The top two seeds are separated by their northing number with the higher number receiving the No. 1 seed in North 1 and Central and the lower northing number being slotted atop the North 2 and South brackets.
The remaining 14 teams are broken down by northing number - the highest seven going to North 1 and Central and lowest seven landing in North 2 and South.
