HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) asks the public to report sightings of the Mediterranean gecko, which is a type of exotic lizard that is not dangerous and has been observed at several locations across Indiana. DNR asks people to email sightings, especially those backed by photographs, to HerpSurveys@dnr.IN.gov, including the photographs. This will help the DNR track locations of this introduced species.

Officials say Mediterranean geckos are native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and northern Africa. They are four to five inches long and are tan or pink with brown blotches on their body.
