ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Douglas County mother is getting answers three months after her 13-year-old son was killed in what police call gang crossfire. But Lastosha Hargett said answers don’t mean closure.
Two 14-year-old boys from Austell are facing charges in De’Siyah Reed’s death. The state attorney general cited gang involvement and said the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
On July 21, De’Siyah was playing outside at a relative’s house along Padgett Road in Cobb County’s Mableton when gunfire broke out. De’Siyah was shot in the head.
“This is where he played. He liked to ride his bike all through the yard, play football with his brother, and run around with the dog,” Hargett said.
