RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - The pilot of the plane that crashed near Ruston on Oct. 21 has been identified.
Jackson Parish Sheriff Andy Brown confirms 64-year-old Rodney Cooper of Huntsville, TX was traveling from Huntsville to Ruston Regional Airport at the time of the crash.
Officials say Cooper, who was the Executive Director at LaSalle Corrections, was traveling to the area for work.

The crash happened in a wooded area near Old Snipe Road in Jackson Parish, about five miles away from the Ruston airport in Lincoln Parish.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed it was a Cirrus SR-22 single-engine piston plane.
