Borderlands 4 sees biggest launch in series history as it beats Ghost Of Yōtei

Despite a messy launch, Borderlands 4 has been a huge success and is already one of the best-selling games of 2025.

Borderlands 4 may have launched to largely positive reviews last month, but it encountered some problems in the immediate aftermath.

The looter shooter had a myriad of performance issues across all formats, although Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was keen to blame people’s setups on PC. A few weeks later, however, the Switch 2 version was indefinitely delayed, because it required ‘additional development and polish’.

However, none of that has stopped Borderlands 4 being a massive success, with the title topping the sales chart in the US for September.
