John Wayne had a massive falling out with his Big Jake co-star, who even tried reaching out to Duke as he was dying from cancer.

John Wayne ’s Rio Bravo remake El Dorado had him co-starring opposite Robert Mitchum, with whom Duke became firm friends on the 1966 movie.
