Dick Maynard had a couple of bugs in his system. One was a “ski thing,” and the other was radio.

Once those were out of his system, he assured his wife, Jan, they could be done with western Colorado.

More than 55 years later, the Maynards still haven’t moved on.

Even now, the airwaves and slopes aren’t quite done with Dick Maynard, despite the relationship changing as decades have passed.

Maynard, 86, will be inducted into the Colorado Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame on Friday , Oct. 24, in Greenwood Village on the Front Range.

This is the Hall of Fame’s inaugural year with a class of nine that includes Western Slope representation in Maynard and Rex Howell, a pioneer in both radio and TV in Colorado with a CBA Broadcaster of the Year memorial award named in his honor.
