A 74-year-old man from Cornwall appeared at the Cornwall courthouse on Tuesday to hear starkly different sentencing submissions made by Assistant Crown attorney Anya Kortenaar and his defence lawyer Daniel Nugent.

A jury found Geza Gelencser guilty on charges of sexual assault, human trafficking, obtaining sexual services for consideration, and two counts of voyeurism after a three-week long trial in May. Gelencser pleaded not guilty to all counts.

During sentencing submissions to Ontario Superior Court of Justice Judge Lia M. Bramwell, the court heard the charges relate to two female victims, one of whom is now deceased. In both cases, the women were homeless and addicted to drugs. Their identities are protected by a publication ban.
