Westport’s library will be getting a funding boost from the provincial government.

Through the province’s Internet Connectivity Program, the Westport Public Library will be receiving funding to expand its internet access, local MPP Steve Clark announced this week.

The program provides about $660,000 to support free, reliable internet service to rural and First Nations public libraries.

“I’m so pleased that Westport is benefiting from this investment by our government,” Clark, the MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, said in a prepared statement. “In rural communities like Westport, libraries are more than just books. They’re places where people of all ages connect, learn new skills, explore opportunities, and access essential services online.”
