Three men charged over a machete brawl outside Melbourne's Luna Park have been freed on bail, despite police urging magistrates to keep the trio locked up.

The Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard that Abbas Mazrawi and brothers Mohamed and Abdurahman Khan allegedly attacked and chased a rival group on Sunday night.
Three alleged victims suffered cuts in the fight, which occurred on Cavell Avenue in St Kilda, while dozens of witnesses watched on.
It was an incident Premier Jacinta Allan — facing ongoing questions about knife crime in the state — called "shocking".
However, lawyers for the men successfully argued on Wednesday that there were "compelling reasons" for their clients to be freed, citing their young age and str
