Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse police are asking for the public’s help to find out who stabbed a dog in the neck on Tuesday morning and left it to die.
The brindle pit bull - who has been given the name “Chance” - is in critical condition, but is expected to live, said Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police.
Police were called to the 500 block of East Willow Street early Tuesday morning after someone reported they saw blood outside a house.
Police searched the area and found Chance bleeding inside a nearby house, Coffey said.
Chance was taken to the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY, HumaneCNY said in a Facebook post . The dog needed surgery and two blood transfusions, according to the group that operates an animal shelter on West Taft Road in Clay. The group named the dog.
