Belleville Fire Chief Dan Smith is reminding residents that fireworks are strictly prohibited in Belleville’s urban area without a permit.

This restriction includes all city owned lands and parks.

Under the fireworks bylaw, fines can be issued to people who light fireworks despite the ban.

Fireworks can pose a serious fire and burn risk, and residents are asked to respect the safety of the public and property.

Concerns regarding the use of fireworks can be reported to Belleville Fire and Emergency Services at 613-962-4545.
