The economy of Alabama’s largest city is feeling the pinch, as the federal government shutdown enter s its fourth week.

A Huntsville resident who appeared Tuesday morning on 2WAY, a live political commentary program, said even Uber drivers are feeling the impact.

“My husband took an Uber last week, and the Uber driver was commenting on how dead the city is, and he was like, nobody is going out to dinner, nobody is booking Uber rides,” said the woman, who used only her first name of Tony. She joined the broadcast by video at the 46-minute mark of the hour-long program.

“He really appreciated the fact that my husband prebooked the ride because he knew it was a guaranteed fare. Driving around, he said I am getting nothing.”

She also mentioned that the shutdown affects her husband.
