DELTA COUNTY, MI – A 26-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash that resulted in both drivers being entrapped in their cars in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, police said .

Derec Nelson, 26, of Escanaba, was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, Oct. 17, in Delta County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:45 a.m. to the crash on US-2/41 near the Highland Golf Course, police said. Upon arrival, they observed two vehicles; one was rolled onto its side.

Thomas Murray, 61, of Bark River, was the driver of the other vehicle, police said. He was also entrapped. However, the extent of his injuries were not released.

The crash is under investigation.
