Michigan receivers coach Ron Bellamy will experience the Wolverines-Spartans rivalry for a ninth time on Saturday, but that’s not what was on the forefront of his mind Wednesday afternoon.
The fifth-year assistant coach and former Michigan receiver (1999-2002) began his news conference with reporters by honoring his former Wolverine teammate and roommate Zia Combs, who died Oct. 12 from a heart attack at age 44.
Combs’ funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Abundant Life Church Ministries in Ypsilanti.
“Just wanted to thank everyone out there for their thoughts and prayers for Zia Combs,” Bellamy said. “Michigan man, my roommate and teammate, one of my best friends passed away last week.
