A 29-year-old Argentine singer and model was fatally shot in Mexico City on Thursday night in what authorities believe may have been an attempted robbery.

Fede Dorcaz, whose real name was Federico Docazberro, was leaving rehearsals for the Mexican reality show Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy when his car was intercepted by two people on motorcycles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Police said Dorcaz was shot at least three times, including once in the neck, and died instantly. Authorities have not yet confirmed a motive, though early reports suggest the attack may have been linked to an attempted robbery.

The singer had been preparing to make his debut on the popular dance competition show. Producers shared a tribute on Instagram on Friday, writing:
