MINNEAPOLIS — The Alexandria girls tennis team’s dual season came to an end on Wednesday, Oct. 22 during its maiden appearance at the Class AAA state team tournament.
The Cardinals have now set a new benchmark for success.
Fifth-seeded Alexandria capped its two-day tournament with a sixth-place result at the Baseline Tennis Center, with opponent Eagan defeating the Cardinals 4-3 for fifth place in the opening placement match. Similar to Day 1 of the state tournament, Alexandria was bested in three of the four singles matches by Wildcats players.
While each dual represented an opportunity, Cardinals head coach Nick Jansen hoped the players were grateful for the chance to compete with the best teams while serving as motivation for the future.
