The London Knights have named Sam O’Reilly their new captain.

The 19-year-old centre will be assisted by defencemen Jared Woolley and Henry Brzustewicz, who are assigned to the alternate captain duties.

“I hope to continue the tradition of great leaders that have worn the ‘C’ in London,” O’Reilly said. “I’m humbled by the opportunity and ready to lead my teammates as we work toward another winning season.”

Sam Dickinson, of course, will play a major leadership role if he is returned to London by San Jose at some point, but the reigning Canadian Hockey League defenceman of the year is still a regular in the struggling Sharks’ lineup.
