PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) -- A Pennsylvania Representative is looking to designate Nov. 3 as "Pennsylvania Elk Hunt Day" with a new resolution.
Rep. Jim Haddock's newest resolution proposal argues that elk hunting is one of the most important aspects of Pennsylvania's hunting culture, with tens of thousands of hunters applying to hunt and only less than 200 being annually chosen for the opportunity.
Hunters view the chance as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Haddock added, with many applying for several years without being selected.
Haddock's resolution would designate Nov. 3, 2025, the opening day of the 2025 general elk hunting season, as "Pennsylvania Elk Hunt Day," while also celebrating both the anniversary of the first regulated elk hunt in the Commonwealth over a century ago and the 25
