The Berkley Farmers Market may not open next summer as the city re-evaluates how and why vendor fees were collected for the canceled 2025 market.
About 15 vendors signed up to take part in the market, but the city’s Downtown Development Authority Board was “unable to reach a contractual agreement (with the market manager) necessary to move forward,” according to a statement on the city’s website.
The market manager, an independent contractor for the DDA, was terminated after she refused to sign a contract. The board decided in June to cancel the market for 2025.
