WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Improvements are coming to Wilson Park in Arkansas City.
This week, city commissioners approved spending up to $326,500 for a new community splash pad. Funding for the equipment cost of $306,500 will come from the city's capital improvement plan. City departments will contribute $20,000 in in-kind services, such as site preparation and plumbing, the city said in a news release on Wednesday.
The splash pad will be near Birch Avenue between First and Second streets.
The 3,600-square-foot splash pad will include a toddler area, an older-kid section with spray cannons and dumping buckets, and shaded seating for families. The space will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, with benches and picnic tables for extended visits, according to the release.
