LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- East Lansing police have identified the deceased individual found in the Red Cedar River last week as Meagan Turner, 32, a doctoral candidate from Canada studying at Michigan State University.

Turner's remains were found in the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 13, in the area of the river police say is "just east of Cedar Village."

At this time, investigators do not believe foul play was involved in her death. The Ingham County Medical Examiner's Office says that it may be two to four weeks before toxicology results are available.

“ELPD will continue to investigate all options and leads in this case, but we do not have reason at this point to believe there is an ongoing risk to public safety,” said East Lansing Police Chief Jen Brown.
