Arizona State University has announced the John Schufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering as the first medical doctor and master of science degree combined program in the state. The program will partner with Honor Health to give students access to real-world scenarios and equipment for teaching.

The school has now gained accreditation and will begin accepting applications for the inaugural class to begin in August 2026.

The first class of 36 students will be required to enroll in both a medical doctor degree and a master of science in engineering degree, where they will learn how to use technology to innovate new paths in health care.
