SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Halloween activities can create stressful and dangerous situations for pets, prompting veterinarians to offer safety advice for pet owners.

The holiday’s crowds, cars, and other animals can overwhelm pets and cause anxiety or unpredictable behavior. Experts recommend using strong leashes or harnesses to control dogs that become spooked during Halloween activities.

“So you have to pay attention to it,” said Dr. Phillip Brown of the Animal Care Center. “And I still think it’s the adult’s responsibilities. And I think it’s great to have the pets and the animals interact. I think it’s a really nice thing to do. But you can get too much and then anything could happen.”
