The story follows Tom, a Brazilian immigrant trying to make his way in the United States, as he meets and falls in love with a writer searching for his next big story. It began out of conversations that Muritiba had with Castellani, in which the actor spoke to the writer-director about his own journey of moving to the States from Brazil and attempting to gain citizenship, and then took shape as the Trump administration’s policies began to threaten the safety of immigrants in America.
