BRAINERD — Paul Sandy will rejoin the city of Brainerd as the public utilities director.

Brainerd City Council members unanimously approved Sandy’s hiring during a meeting on Monday, Oct. 20.

Sandy served as Brainerd city engineer from 2017-22 and as assistant city engineer for two years before that. During the end of his tenure with the city, a restructuring of departments put him in charge of public works as well. Since leaving the city, he has worked in civil engineering for WSB and Short Elliott Hendrickson. The move to the private sector and consulting world allowed Sandy to use more of his technical engineering skills while still serving local municipalities through this work.
