The Iowa State Auditor's Office will review the Iowa Department of Education's licensing procedures in the wake of the former Des Moines Public Schools superintendent's arrest for overstaying a deportation order , Auditor Rob Sand confirmed.

Sand on Wednesday, Oct. 22, announced his office received a qualifying legislative request after state Sen. Tony Bisignano, D-Des Moines, asked the office to review the Iowa Department of Education's and the Board of Educational Examiners' procedures for licensing and background checks.
