Vaccines save untold numbers of children. Why change that now? (Viewpoint)

Iwas born in 1952, making me 73 years old. I became a primary care doctor in 1981. I also studied public health and received a master’s degree in that field.

The year I was born, 3,000 children died from polio in the United States out of 58,000 cases, a death rate of 5.2%. In the U.S. that year, 7,575 children died from measles and 402 children died from pertussis.
