City hall has the approval from politicians to put modular shelters in a farm field south of Highway 401 – but even supporters admit it will take work to bring the project over the finish line.

Politicians endorsed the plan to set up 60 “micro-shelters” on city-owned farmland at the northeast corner of Max Brose Drive and Cheese Factory Road, east of where Highbury Avenue crosses Highway 401. Coun. Susan Stevenson was the lone opponent, objecting to using city reserve funds to cover the estimated $7-million cost.
