Police have arrested a teenager they say fired into a car, striking someone, and causing a crash earlier this week.
Alam Flores, 19, of Naugatuck, was identified as the suspect in a Naugatuck shooting near the intersection of Route 63 and Mill Street around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, police said.
Naugatuck officers responded to the scene after a car crashed into a guardrail. Someone in the vehicle told police that someone had shot at them near Mill Street and Baummer Pond moments before.
Two people were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. One for the crash and the other with a bullet wound, police said.
Flores was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, violation of pistol permit requirements, reckless endangerment, assault, criminal attempt at assault on a victim who is elderly or otherwise vulnerable, four counts of criminal attempt at assault, and criminal mischief, Naugatuck police said.
Flores was being held on a $500,000 bond, authorities said.
Naugatuck police said the investigation is ongoing.
