A driver was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after crashing into a Bethesda school building during a medical emergency, authorities said.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials were called around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to the area of Lynbrook Drive and West Virginia Avenue, where a car left the roadway and smashed into a building, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
The vehicle became wedged between the building and a chain-link fence, trapping the driver.
Firefighters worked to free the driver before transporting them to an area hospital with priority two injuries, Piringer said.
According to Piringer, the driver “had a medical emergency and lost control of the car.”
The building, occupied only by administrative staff at the time, sustained cosmetic damage but was deemed structurally sound.
No other injuries were reproted.
