The United States has imposed sanctions on two major Russian oil companies, citing their “lack of serious commitment to peace in Ukraine,” as President Donald Trump noted that conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin were “good” but did “not go anywhere.”
The move to sanction the Russian oil companies, announced by the US Department of the Treasury, targets firms to increase pressure on Russia’s energy sector. The sanctions have been imposed on Russia's two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Luko.
“Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin’s war machine. Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to support President Trump’s effort to end yet another war. We encourag
